Zagora – Agdz – Ouarzazate (168km)

Draa River is the longest river in Morocco, the section from Zagora to Agdz is the most stunning. there are countless Kasbahs all along the river, together with the lush palmeraies and breathtaking mountains, plus the interesting contrast of the dry valley to a wide river during the time of irrigation, It was truly a feast for the eyes. ..... Merzouga – Rissani – Alnif – Tazzarine – N’Kob (224km)

It was pretty hard to leave the amazing Merzouga.

After Merzouga, I rode on a boring 35km flat road to Rissani, a dusty city with nothing special, so I continued my journey after the lunch. The road goes along the area that lines with small hills with different layers or in strange shapes, which are formed by water erosion. There are bushes on the land, and I saw tents of shepherds near the hill occasionally, although this is a main road, but it has very less traffic, and sometimes you can find a small hill just next to the road which you can hide yourself if you do wild camping. ..... Leaving from the green Meski, I have backed to the yellow-grey area. This route is more scenic than the last one, sometimes climb over a valley or along the river which is covered with countless palm trees. It was harvest season for dates, dates with different colors, yellow, orange, brown, etc, were drying on the roof or ground, but there were not many people around. It was a relax 25km ride to Aoufous, this hidden village in a valley was surprisingly lively, seemed everyone was busy for trading dates. ..... See More

Todra Gorge / Tinghir – Errachidia / Source Bleue de Meski (161km)

2 weeks after the magnificent landscapes of Imilchil and Dades Gorge, it’s time to go back to ‘normal’ places. Several hundreds km asphalt road in a vast and flat desert-like area from Tinghir to Merzouga, and those Oasis towns are quite interesting but there are not many reasons to stop. ..... See More

Touring Morocco by Bike (6.1): Imilchil – Dades Gorge

Imilchil – Dades Gorge

Imilchil – Dades Gorge (142km)
When I climb a hill, I expect a nice view at the top, and look forward the pleasure of going downhill, but if the downhill road is too messy and steep, it would be even more difficult than going uphill. In some extreme cases, I felt lucky because I was not coming from the other side, it is not consider as a hard ride, it is rather impossible. I had a strong feeling in this route, the last time I had the same feeling was at Song Kul in Kyrgyzstan. Every time I told Moroccans that I crossed this place by bicycle, I saw surprise and respect from their faces. ..... See More
